Types of Users for Authorization

Before using Arkadium's Auth features, it's best to familiarize yourself with the types of users who may engage with your game on the Arkadium network of sites.

These users can fall into three categories which represent their lifecycle with Arkadium.

  1. Unregistered Users
  2. Registered Users
  3. Subscribed Users

Unregistered Users

These users make up the majority of players on Arkadium's network of sites. Since they have not created an account with Arkadium, they are only able to use local storage to save any progress they may make during their play sessions. Additionally, they are unable to purchase Gems, our premium virtual currency used within games.

Registered Users

Registered users have gone through the process of creating an account with Arkadium by connecting their email address or valid social media account. These users have access to our Persistence functionality which allows them to access their progress across devices for compatible games. Registered users are also able to purchase and redeem currency.

Generally, creating an account on any of Arkadium's network of sites will allow players to login using the same credentials elsewhere, however there are few partner sites with specific exceptions due to using their own login methods. Additionally, not every site in the Arkadium network offers the use of Gems.

Should there be a discrepancy between local and cloud storage progress for players within this group, games should seek to update the cloud storage to use whichever is further along. This may arise if a player is newly registered or if they play without realizing they forgot to login previously.

Subscribed Users

Subscribed users are the smallest subset of users on Arkadium's network of sites. These highly engaged users have paid Arkadium an annual or monthly fee to receive a number perks associated with their account, the most notable of which being ad-free access to games. Should your game contain non-optional advertising such as display ads or interstitial videos, these must be suppressed for users in this group. Any optional advertisements, such as rewarded video, can still be presented to subscribed users.

Like registered users, subscribed users have access to cloud saving and virtual currency.
