Gems & Currency
Getting Gems
Players can purchase gems through the shop on Arkadium.com or other supported arenas.
In order to make a purchase, players must be registered and logged in. If an unregistered player attempts to view the shop they will receive a prompt asking them to login or create an account .
Players can visit the Shop in the Arena, or it can be opened by the game through the API by calling host.openPurchaseForm()
Shop from where gems bundles can be acquired
Since Gems are tied to a pre-defined real world value they CANNOT be given out as rewards within games without express permission of Arkadium.
Players receive a small discount on Gem bundles if they are an Arkadium Advantage subscriber.
Spending Gems
Developers can decide how to best use Gems within their games. Most have tend to choose direct redemption of Gems for power-ups or other cosmetics with a single click. However, other games with more robust in-game economies may opt to use Gems as a hard currency with which to purchase bundles of in-game currency, perks, and inventory items.
Gems associated with a player's account never expire once acquired.
players can view their previous gem transaction history within their profile.
Other In-Game Currencies
Currently, there is no universal soft currency for Arkadium platforms.
The game may use some form of soft currency, such as coins, to drive its in-game economy. The rate at which this currency is rewarded is set by the game’s developer to best serve the game design.
As a best practice, please ensure the icons for any specific in-game currency is easily distinguishable from the Gems icon used by Arkadium. Failure to do so will likely result in a large number of complaints from players who misunderstand that the two currencies are separate from one another.
